Dominique Barbier Dressasge Clinic July 23 – 25
Dominique, in the French classical dressage tradition, brings to life the essence of this tradition and reveals its relevance to the contemporary rider. Barbier’s famous work “in lightness” has deep roots, springing from Xenophon’s pronouncement that nothing forced can be beautiful and carried forward in the traditions of riding masters Gueriniere and Baucher.
Barbier studied riding in his native France, as well as in England, and later he moved to Portugual to work extensively with Mestre Nuno Oliveira. Barbier has drawn on these experiences to create his own school.
Beginning with mental attitude – “The Part of Riding No One talks About” – Barbier presents a comprehensive program from riding fundamental through Haute Ecole.
You will learn about the effectiveness of groundwork to achieve impulsion, suppleness, and connection before mounting. In the saddle, Barbier shows how to use this foundation to create an active, engaged horse connected in lightness.
Whether you want to improve your horse’s walk or perfect his canter pirouettes, you will find helpful guidance from Dominique.
The clinic will include two sessions per day. Dominique will train your horse in the morning and give you a lesson with your horse in the afternoon. For horse and rider the cost of the clinic per day is $320 and does include lunch. Stalling is available for $20 per day. Auditors are most welcome at the cost of $35 per day and will include lunch. Please make reservations ahead of time to assure space and lunch. RSVP by July 19th to Linda Bertschinger at (540) 459-8591.
